Snow! Friday, Feb 25 2011

One last bit of winter hit the Pacific Northwest last night.  This morning we woke up to about 2 inches of snow.  It began melting, but then it snowed again.  By this afternoon the sun was out and it was all gone.  I was bundled with my trusty camera and tripod outside for a few quick minutes trying to capture some of the sights.  It was a pretty day.

Spaz Cat! He was having a BLAST in the snow today!

SE Portland Monday, Feb 14 2011

We love South East Portland!  Where else can you find killer local coffee (thank you Stumptown), vibrant architecture, Volkswagens young and old everywhere and people that just really could care less what the world thinks of them, all in one place?

It was a morning without rain so we headed across town for some Stumptown, camera in tow, and it was a day to play with the 55-200 lens. We spent some time on Belmont for coffee and then headed to Division for lunch.  Pok Pok – mmmmm!  Good eats at Pok Pok, spicy but good!

Some weathered and moldy old painted iron fencing that surrounds an old mechanics shop. I’m digging the contrast and fuzz of the background.

Stumptown Coffee…Best on the Planet!

This is a shot of the emblem that adorns their espresso maker.  I altered it quite a bit with Photoshop.

A cool building that’s right down the block from Stumptown.  The place is decorated with old VW lights and an interesting paint job.

This too has been doctored by photoshop.

Way Behind Tuesday, Feb 8 2011

It’s been over a week since my last post and I’m starting to feel guilty.  There has been quite a bit going on that’s kept me away from my camera but the weather has also been wet and really cold which has kept me in the house rather than out taking photos.

Saturday was our Exposure class.  A very interesting class, Exposure.  We learned lots!  When we got home we played around with some of the techniques but nothing of note to post here.

Here are a few shots of things I’ve worked on recently.

November 2010 – This is one of the first photos I took with my camera.  The hydrangeas  hadn’t all shut down yet.

I enhanced the colors with the Nikon software that came with the camera because I didn’t have Photoshop Elements quite yet.

November 2010 – This is another one of the first photos taken with my camera.  I liked the tropical leaf but the photo was kind of boring so I jazzed it by experimenting with several different functions in Elements.

December 2010 – Oregon Wine Country

This is one of the windows at Cana’s Feast Winery in Carlton, Oregon.

I altered the hue and contrast of this photo in elements.
